Military Hotel Deals

Sorry, I have been away a fews days, I have been sick and sleeping quite a bit. I thought I would share the Military Discounts for Walt Disney World Resorts.

Right now, thru September 30 2012, Walt Disney World is offering discounts on their resort rooms to Members of the Armed Forces. The discounts are 30% at Value Resorts, 35% at Moderate Resorts and 40% off at Deluxe and Disney Vacation Club Resorts (Deluxe Villas). You can also add one of the Disney Dining Plans to your reservation without having to purchase tickets, which you normally have to do with a Regular Magic Your Way package. This dicsount is only available to Active Duty, Reserve, Guard, and Veterans that have a current Military ID card.

This can be an affordable option depending on the time of year you are going. Of course, Peak times may not be available.

Also, on Walt Disney World Property is the Armed Forces Recreation Center, Shade of Green. Shades is not only available to Active Duty members, Reservists, National Guard, but also Retirees, and DoD Personnel and the rate is based on rank/classification. During the months of January and September, Honorably Duscharged Veterans with only a DD-214 may book. The rooms at Shades of Green are comparable to Disney's Deluxe resorts as far as space goes, however they can be much cheaper, unless you go at a non-peak time and are able to book with the Disney Military room discount.

Also available to Military is the Armed Forces Vacation Club, you can book a condo at select resorts for seven night for $369.  There are all kinds of rooms available from studio to 3 bedroom condos.

My advice is to sit down and work out which option is best for you and your family, as well as your budget. There are alot of pros and cons to each option and only you know which option is best for you.

Disney in January

Well, my husband and I will celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary on December 8, 2011 and we wanted to take our now annual Christmas trip to Disney, but with my husband having only been at his civilian job a year, we have decided to wait until January.

This will be our first time going in January and I have been a bit worried about the weather, but we are both so excited that we are about to bust. We will be staying at Disney's Boardwalk Inn and Villas, 3 nights in a regular room and 4 nights in a DVC, or Disney' Vacation Club, 1 bedroom villa, both new to us, and right at the back gate to Epcot and a boat ride away from Disney's Hollywood Studios.

We are using 2 different dining plans and have tons of dining reservations, to include the Hoop De Doo Revue at Fort Wilderness, also a first for us.

Introductions

I guess I should start by introducing myself and my family, such as it is. I am Suzanne, I am a 38 year old Army wife and Disney fanatic, I am married to Michael who is 33, an Army Reservist, truck driver, and Disney fanatic. We don't have human children, only the 4 legged kind, 4 cats, 1 dog, and 1 rabbit.

Our love of Disney began in June 2005, all because of my cooked up idea to see and touch the Ripley's Believe It or Not fertility statues, that, at that time were housed in their corporate office in Orlando, FL. We decided to make a vacation of that visit.  Since that time, my husband and I have been to Walt Disney World 15 times, and I am in the process of planning our 16th trip.

I am not and never will be an extreme couponer, but I am an extreme Disney trip planner. I could spend all day doing it, but I have another full time job.

My current mission is booking the best package with whatever Military discount that is available, that is the very reason that I am here starting this blog, I was helping another military wife plan a trip and she put the idea in my head to share all I know.
